KI Youth Department Board

Co-Presidents
Hey everyone, its Kenny Fifer, your 2004-2005 Co-President of KI USY. This upcoming year is a crucial one for the future of KI USY. As the senior class, the youngest grade around when KI USY was formed six years ago, will be graduating in June 2005, it is of the most importance that more underclassmen get involved and start to take leadership roles in the chapter. Fortunately, we have a very strong and motivated Sophomore class next year, four of whom are on the executive board. This year we will continue to reach out to the younger high school grades to ensure a good future for KI USY.

Our other focus in the upcoming year will be Israel. All of you know the situation in our homeland, and know that Israel needs our support more than ever. Too often people make ill-founded criticisms of Israel and we do not know how to respond. This year I hope to have Israel teach-ins every month or so to ensure that our members stay updated on Israel’s situation and learn how to respond when they hear people criticize Israel unfairly.

Overall I am looking forward to a great year. We will carry over our successful programs from 2003-2004 and add some creative ones as well. I can see in everyone a enthusiasm towards the upcoming year that has been absent at the start of previous ones. Feel free to contact me at any time to ask a question or just to talk. Have a good summer, and see you all soon.

Hi, I’m Solomon Rosenberg, KI USY 2004-2005 Co-President. Let me tell you a
little about how I got here. I began at KI Religious School in third grade, and joined USY, through KI, in seventh grade. Since then I have held several positions on KI USY Chapter Board including Israel Affairs, Programming, Executive Vice President this past year. Along with my co-president, Kenny Fifer, I hope to bring KIUSY back to the regional prominence that it has enjoyed in the past.

Communications Vice President

Hi Everyone I'm Emily Berkowitz, your new Communications VP.  Communication is a key aspect of every chapter; this year I am going to make communications at KI better then it ever has been. In the past year I’ve grown to love USY like no other and I want to share that love this year with so many new people. It is my promise that we will let everyone know about events going on so they can join in with the friendships and fun. I want everyone to experience the amazing feeling you get when spending quality time with your fellow jews. USY is an amazing organization. One in which I want everyone to fall in love with. This year as your KI Communications VP, I want us to succeed more then ever and make sure that everyone knows about the amazing events going on within KI and NERUSY. That’s all for now folks

Membership/Kadima Vice President

I'm Pete Goodman, the Membership/Kadima VP for KI USY. I am a senior at BHS, and a projected Journalism major in college. I have been a part of USY for the past 5 years and last year I was the Communication VP for KI USY.

This year I would really like to see KI’s USY membership reach an all time high, I am willing to do everything in my power to make that happen. This year, KI has the potential to be one amazing chapter and Ii hope to get as many people as possible affiliated with everything KI and NERUSY have to offer. In the summer of 2004 I attended USY on Wheels. I am a Pisces and enjoy long walks on the beach.

Israel Affairs/Programming Vice President

Israel, the home of our jewish people, and a state that has held a special place in my heart every since I was born. Through the past couple of years Israel has been through some of it's hardest times ever, and it's my hope and obligation that I can inform all of you about the current conflicts that are going on. If we were all aware of what our fellow people are going through then hopefully each one of us can take a little step in helping to rebuild peace in Israel. My love for Israel is like no other and I want all of you to be able to share in that same love.

Religion/Education Vice President

Bruchim HaBaim! Welcome KI USYers, new and old, to a new year of exciting and educational programming from KI USY. This New Year will be in full force, with a new board and new ideas I am very honored to serve in this chapter.

My position for this year is the position of Religion and Educationa very important seat for the chapter. It focuses on the Jewish and learning aspect of USY, to incorporate the religious element into our events. (Not just to carouse with friends, which is good, but to learn something too!)

I attend Maimonides, an Orthodox Jewish day school in Brookline, even though I am a conservative Jew. I happen to know a lot about Judaism and feel that I have the power and ability to educate and to incorporate certain Jewish aspects into our lives. By supplying Divrei Torah, reviewing prayers, and keeping you informed on holidays, I can prove a Jewish aspect into out lives.  I look forward to working with all of you.

Social Action/Tikkun Olam (SA/TO) Vice President

Being your incumbent Social Action/Tikkun Olam Vice President, I already have a base from which to start from, and goals that I have not achieved yet, which I would still like to achieve. I know the works now, having been on RGB as Social Action Even Coordinator and a year at USY under my belt. Many good things are to come of this year, and the SA/TO aspect of KI will be a huge part of it!
